We all have pride and show alliance to our Alma Maters, but it’s nice when we have the chance to actually make a donation and make a difference. With that sense of pride, it’s even nicer your school also shows you how much they appreciate your donation. By taking the extra step and creating a lasting memory for Alumnus, you make it easier for them to come back year after year and continue to donate.

Objective
A private university wanted to recognize an elite group of alumni donors. The university wanted an award that symbolized a solid foundation because the donations that the individuals made strengthened the financial stability of the organization. The university also wanted to ensure that the award emulated the university logo – a silver flame.

Strategy
The Director of Alumni Relations discussed the background information regarding the project, including the theme, timeline and quantity. The concept sketch featured a significant three-tier base designed to represent the financial foundation provided by the donors. Small accents were added to the award. The accents and base were made of brushed aluminum to further emulate the university logo.

Results
In approximately six weeks, this custom award was created and given to each donor at the annual recognition ceremony. During this presentation, the Director of Alumni Relations described the symbolism of the award and stressed the importance of the donations. The alumni were truly grateful to receive such a beautiful award.
