Show Veterans your Appreciation Throughout the Year

In November 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day with the following words: “To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…”

Veterans Day is an important time to recognize the heroism of this group of individuals who have fought and sacrificed for the good of others. They have dedicated their lives to giving back to the citizens of the United States and others around the world. While we can never show enough gratitude, this day is one way to acknowledge the fearless courage and leadership that they exemplify.

This past Veterans Day we celebrated more than 22 million fearless heroes who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Here are some ways to honor Veterans throughout the year.

1. Volunteer with a Veterans Service Organization

2. Learn a new fact about Military Culture and then share it

3. Attend a local Veterans Ceremony

4. Donate to any Veteran Organization

5. Help a Veteran in Need

6. Display an American Flag throughout the year

7. Celebrate them at Work
