Time to Play Ball, Opening Day is Here

After a long hard winter, the start of spring brings with it the promise of America’s favorite past time. Here in St. Louis we take our baseball pretty seriously, and some even consider Opening Day to be a St. Louis holiday. While some bosses can’t go as far as to give their employees off, there are still some ways you can let your employees in on the opening day fun.

Opening Day Ideas for Employees

1. Dress down Day – Let your employees have a free day to dress in their team colors. It’s nice to have a day off of not worrying about what to wear. Relax a little and show your team pride! Take it a step further and offer a donation option to a favorite charity and institute a casual day once a month or once a quarter. Whoever donates gets to dress down!

2. Ballpark Lunch – Treat your employees to an in-office BBQ. Grill up some hot dogs and brats for lunch on Opening Day, and let employees bring in their favorite ballpark food to share with the whole office. Allow lunch to be extended an extra half hour so every one has time to enjoy all the food. Take it a step further and start a regular carry-in meal with your staff to improve office camaraderie!

3. Game Time – Allow employees to listen to the game at their desk. Whether you allow the whole office to hear or for each individual to listen with head phones at their computer, allow them the chance to keep up with all the highlights. Take it a step further and coordinate game watching events for after the office closes. Pick a happy hour location for everyone to relax and enjoy the game as a group!
