Objective
A private practice wanted to take part in their local Heart Awareness Month walk that happens at the end of February. They really wanted all their employees to participate and make this a whole office event.
Strategy
They needed something extra that would give their employees more incentive to sign up for the walk. While it is a simple 1 mile walk, there is also an option to run/walk a 5k. The office was fine with an employee participating in either, they just wanted a strong presence of their office to be there. For each employee that registered, they were given a training pack to help them prepare for the event. It included a drawstring bag, a stress reliever, a pen, a water bottle to use during the race, a pedometer to track their steps and some hand sanitizer.
Results
The employees really appreciated the extra incentive from the office for them to get up and get motivated. They all really liked the water bottles, and everyone that participated in the walk used their water bottle at work weekly. The walk was meant to bring them together as an office and make them feel like part of a team, which was evident by everyone using the same bag or same water bottle on a regular basis. They’re a nice reminder of the day they all spent together.
