150 Years…and Counting

I’m not big on tooting my own horn, but through a bit of prodding, it’s come to me that I shouldn’t be shy about sharing this big news. Lipic’s Recognition, as we’re known today, is just part of a family tradition that dates back to a time when fine pens were treasured and passed down from generation to generation. You see, we’re celebrating our 150th anniversary this year. And while we’re not in the fine pen game anymore, we do have some exciting news to share as we start on the next 150.

But, first, let me give you some history. In 1863, the father-in-law of the first Lipic started making fine gold points for wooden pen holders in a one-room shop in St. Louis. This evolved into the company patenting one of the first self-filling fountain pens in the early 20th century. Lipic’s became widely known throughout the US and Mexico as The Pen House of St. Louis and THE place to go for fine pens.

Eventually, the demand for these fine writing instruments started to decline, and we decided we needed to change our game plan in order to stay relevant in the business world. Over the years, as the business was passed down from generation to generation, we rooted ourselves in the recognition and promotional industries, providing custom solutions to our customers’ needs. If you need imprinted mugs, we have ‘em. If you need apparel to outfit your employees, we work with the best suppliers. If you need fine awards for your event, we offer numerous options.

We are very good at what we do. Our clients tend to stick with us because they know if they need something done, Lipic’s is the one to call. But, we’ve found that something is lacking. We aren’t reaching all of our clients in a way so they know all of our capabilities. We don’t just do uniform programs. We don’t just do service awards. Lipic’s is so much more than that.

So, we put our heads together and realized that to truly service our clients, we need to embrace a new way of thinking. A new way of marketing ourselves. And all of that hard work led us to where we are today. Lipic’s Engagement. We’re changing the way people think about their employees and what their success means to the company as a whole. It’s not a new concept, but we’re bringing a fresh new approach to it.

Employee engagement is the extent to which employees feel passionate about their jobs, are committed to the organization and put discretionary effort into their work. In simpler form, it basically means that happier, more engaged employees perform better at their jobs, thereby increasing the success of the company. Sounds pretty simple, right? Well, actually, we’ve found that it’s harder for our clients to manage than you’d think.

This is where we come in. We’re taking the acts of recognition, loyalty programs and a whole slew of other tools to a whole new level. You see, we’ve been doing this for awhile. 150 years to be exact. We know what works and what doesn’t.     Steve,
    I like the new name ! You are working hard to keep Lipic’s fresh and up-to-date with all the changes in technology and thinking in the business world. Lipic is a wonderful name with a lot of heritage – I am proud of you and all that you are doing to keep Lipic’s a successful business !
