Challenge

A client wanted a one-off award to thank an outstanding employee for his dedication and the initiative he had taken as part of a team. The employee’s manager wanted a piece that would recognize the accomplishment and in turn, create additional motivation for the employee and his teammates.

Solution

The production team chose a puzzle to represent the elements of a successful team – with each piece playing a crucially important role in creating the final overall product. The award featured removable puzzle pieces that, when connected, created a structure that sat atop a metal base. On the base they added a customized inscription to the employee, telling him that he was “an essential piece” of the puzzle. Each piece had its proper place and without all the pieces, the puzzle would not be complete – exactly like the merits of teamwork.

Results

After receiving the award, the employee’s positive attitude and efficiency increased even more over the following year. His teammates also felt motivated to step up their achievements in hopes of receiving recognition for their efforts. The overall outlook and enthusiasm of the group improved as the result of this well-designed symbol of recognition.
