Objective: Safety Program Awareness
Overview: Lloist Chemical is a manufacturer of lime, a vital chemical used in building highways. Because of the use of heavy equipment, safety programs have been a part of their company policy. Due to an increase in accidents, Lloist decided to start a new safety campaign. The Safety Director had a safety commitment card printed that each employee was to sign.
Distribution: Lloist decided to kick off the safety program with a company cook-out during lunch. Upper management cooked while the employees were given an overview of the program. Then the commitment cards, along with a Bic Clic Stic pen, were given to each employee. The pens had the Lloist logo and “Before you Start – Be Safety Smart.” Each employee signed the safety commitment statement and kept the Bic pen.
Outcome: Safety related incidents were reduced by 20%.
